Screenplay update

So as many of you know I've been writing a screenplay. Well back in March I finished the first one. Recently I started writing a second one.

Heres an overview of the first screenplay:
Jennifer is your average Joe Smoe from Mid-Michigan, until she discovers her freak singing voice. She grows and learns so much as she learns more and more about where her freak singing voice comes from.

Here is an overview of the second screenplay:
(I'm currently working on writing this one.)
Sarah always knew she was different than most people her age. She grew up singing and acting, so the job she pursues in musical theater. When Sarah and Jennifer meet, they strike up a close relationship that turns out to be more than it seems.

  • So thats where things stand with the overviews for now. You may have noticed that in both overviews I mentioned a character named Jennifer. The Jennifer from the first screenplay ("That Girl I knew") and from the second screenplay (which is still untitled) is the same Jennifer. I have several screenplays I would love to write about the same characters. Each screenplay will focus on a different character, as to show the full picture of what was happening in everyone's lives during the same 50 years or so. It'll be a challenge, but I havent given up yet.

I've already filled up one notebook with scenes I want to use in the screenplay Im currently working on, and have started a second one. I'll try to keep you updated with the happenings with these screenplays...although I dont know how productive Ill be.

One era ends, and a second one begins...

Just tonight one era of an important part of my life ended, and a second era is begining. At about 8:30 I finished writing my first screenplay. It's a little hard to put everything in perspective right now. It's definatly time for me to start putting it all into perspective.

At about 6PM this evening, I started to work on making the final touch ups on the formating of the screenplay. At about 7PM, I finished the touch ups. At that point I took a break to do some thinking before I made the final edit in the whole screenplay. Finally at about 9pm, I decided that it was time to make the final change.

Now you may be asking me what I'm feeling right now. It's and understandable question to be asking. I really dont know how to feel. I am so excited about the fact that I have finished it, but at the same time I'm so sad that it's done. The journey from having the first idea almost exactly a year ago, to finishing the screenplay today has been a blessing. Last year in early April, I first had the idea for the story. After starting to write the story, I spent six months developing the story. The most recent six months has been even better since I've been able to make a few minor changes to the story so it makes more sense to readers. I've also been able to discover more about the more minor characters that don't play as big of roles as Jennifer does in this first screenplay.

I'm thankful that I have been lucky enough to get to know these characters as well as I have. I am ready to find out where my life leads me next, and what happens to the screenplay. Hopefully I will be able to get this screenplay published eventually. I know I have a second screenplay that I am planning starting to write soon. I will still make lots of posts here about this first screenplay, and any future writing that I do. Thanks to my writing here, I have been able to go back at a later date and find things that I never realized I knew about the characters.

Jennifer

This entry is about Jennifer, who is the main character in my screenplay. Enjoy!

Jennifer was born on May 20, 1988. Even before she was born, Jennifer's mom (Kristen), knew that she wouldnt be able to care for her. So, not long after she was born, Jennifer's adoptive parents met her. She (Jennifer) had the chance to grow up in a relativly normal situation. She never had to little to eat, always had toys to play with, and went to school like every other kid. At a young age she discovered a love for music. She always wanted to listen to music, even when everyone else in her adoptive family wanted silence. This was something she inherited from her biological mother. As Jennifer grew, she became involved with the school bands, and played the trumpet. Not long after starting to play the trumpet she started taking piano lessons. She was so involved with school groups, and with her friends that she never felt alone. By the time she started high school Jennifer was beggining to sense something. She wasn't sure exactly what she was feeling, but she knew something didn't seem quite right. She felt like there was something her adoptive parents hadnt told her that was important. Her adoptive family didn't tell her she was adopted until a week before she turned nineteen. Throughout high school she wanted to become a nurse or a high school band director. They day Jennifer and Kristen met, Jennifer turned nineteen. Over the next few years, Jennifer and Kristen spent a lot of time together just getting to know each other. Jennifer eventually joined the military and spent a year in Iraq. From then on Jennifer began to find her place in New York, and also found love from someone other than her mom.
